Feis Ile is Islay’s annual Festival of Malt & Music. It runs over the course of a week in late May each year, and each distillery on Islay and Jura is allocated its own day. An estimated 10,000 whisky fans from all over the world travel to Scotland’s whisky island for the festival, attending masterclasses, whisky paired dinners and once in a lifetime experiences.
Douglas Laing’s Feis Ile 2015 saw 4 of the team pack 2 cars and head to Islay for 3 dram-packed days of events. From our Spirited Supper at the Port Charlotte Hotel to our Fred’s Favourites tasting at the Ballygrant, to the Scotch & Small Plates event where our very own Jan Beckers played head chef, we tasted a huge range of both Islay and non-Islay whiskies and met new friends from all the over the world.
2015 saw us launch our first Feis Ile Commemorative bottling – an Old Particular 14 Years Old Laphroaig from a single cask. We bottled just 636 of these bottles and all those who’ve tasted it agree it’s just like Islay in a bottle.
We’ll be back for Feis Ile 2016 – watch this space!
