With the combination of lockdown and favourable weather conditions, we are firmly entrenched in barbeque season. To celebrate, we have worked with a BBQ expert to create a delicious Big Peat barbecue sauce recipe to perfectly accompany your barbecued foods this summer.
Our new barbeque sauce recipe is a wonderful mixture of salty, sweet and smoky; a match made in heaven with our Islay Malt which is bursting with charcoal and peat.
MAKE BIG PEAT’S BBQ SAUCE
100ml Big Peat Islay Malt Scotch Whisky
300ml tomato ketchup
20ml apple cider vinegar
50g dark brown sugar
50ml dark soy sauce
1 small white onion, finely chopped
4 cloves garlic, crushed
1 red chilli, finely chopped
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
Pinch of salt and pepper
Fry the onion and garlic in oil with the chilli and sugar.
Add the soy sauce, ketchup, apple cider vinegar and Big Peat
Season with the salt, pepper and smoked paprika.
Bring to the boil and simmer for 15 minutes to combine the flavours. Use as a dip or to coat spare ribs, chicken or sausages
