Jan Beckers, Global Malt Ambassador
Jan’s whisky journey began at age 16 (which he assures us is the legal drinking age in Belgium) when he was introduced to the spirit by his brothers. His passion grew as he spent no less than 6 summers as a tour guide at Glenfiddich, before landing his dream job as Global Malt Ambassador at Douglas Laing, and going on to be crowned Belgian Whisky Ambassador of the Year in 2011.
Jan trained as a chef before committing to his calling in the whisky industry, but he does occasionally allow the two to overlap. His Belgian Chocolate Mousse made with Big Peat is becoming legendary, though the recipe remains his closely-guarded secret. A passionate presenter with an enviable knowledge of Scotch Whisky, Jan travels the world as the face of Douglas Laing, presenting our whiskies to those who care (almost) as much as we do.
